Sad

Buster had a great morning at the park last Tuesday.
He was fine in the evening.
On Wednesday morning he was not himself. The vet discovered that he had
a ruptured tumor on the spleen.
He was put to sleep that day rather than subject him to painful and almost certainly futile treatment.

He was such a good pal.
He always made me smile.

  1. Dear Elizabeth, I read yesterday on Daryl's blog with great sadness that adorable Buster has passed away. My heart aches for you, Robert and all the family. Buster was such a special and sweet dear companion and I know you both are so very sad with his loss. Buster was lucky to have shared his life with you, Robert and yours and I know you all will miss him terribly. Buster brought to me so much joy, I loved seeing photos of him at your home, in the park with his friends and walking around with you. Buster will be sorely missed...
    Sending much love and hugs.

    2. I friend of mine, Karin, wrote on a post about my dearest Flora: "Can I miss a dog I never actually met? Yes, yes, I can. I miss Flora, and I love your beautiful photos so much." I say the same about dearest Buster. Adorable Buster will be always in my heart and in my memory...

  3. I am so sad to read about Buster's passing.

He was a great representative of his species and Ramses and I always enjoyed his commentary on his life.

You provided him with a wonderful life and I'm sure he would have told you "Thanks for everything, I had a great time" if he could talk.

I know the suddenness of this is a shock as is the heartbreaking decision you had to make. I've been there.

I will miss his reflections on life and his sharing adventures with Knutty and all the rest of his pals.

Thank you so much for sharing him with us.

With love and sincere condolences from Ramses and Me.

  11. Elizabeth, I'm so sorry to hear that Buster is no longer with us. What a truly special, wonderful dog. I enjoyed all of his blog posts and shared them with my husband, son and others. There's nothing like a dog friend with whom to share life. I was incredibly lucky to have that once! My condolences.

  19. We were so sad to read about Buster's sudden passing. He was a delight and we loved reading about him and all his pals. We will miss him and send you our love and sympathy for his loss. Recently we lost our two much-loved dogs and know what a big hole in your heart they leave when they depart. But the memories of their quirks and special behaviors will be with you always.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for sharing Buster with us. We hope that your sadness will be relieved a little by knowing how much joy Buster brought to your readers. Condolences to you, your family and to all of Buster's friends.

  20. very sorry to hear about buster. I looked forward to reading the entries about him because he was almost identical to the dog I had while growing up - Max. Max was with us for 14 years, and it's been 30 years since he was gone. I bet Max and Buster would have gotten along famously :) So sorry for your loss. I cried for a week straight after I heard about Max being ill and not making it (I was away at college).

    1. So very sad to hear about poor Ozzy. I never really realized how long the mourning process is. You must miss Ozzy so much.
Our last dog before Buster, Skippy, was put to sleep the week of his 16th birthday when he had really had a good long life. Buster was only seven. It's been over a month now and I still look for him every day. So sending lots of love to you and your family, love
      Elizabeth and family.
