Dog Days of Summer

I do not know why it is called the dog days.
Mum does not know either. Maybe someone will explain.*

I am telling important stuff to O'Malley.
You can see Diesel too.
I think he may be Irish. O'Malley not Diesel.

This is Axl or maybe Axel like Guns and roses.
He only weights ten pounds. I am fatter than that.

This is me with a stick that I am taking home. I like sticks and often chew them.

Benny is eating a ball that is the same color as his mouth.
Most of us guys like eating things.

I am looking at Arrow because he can do very fast running.
He used to run in races.

When he goes in the pool, he only just fits.

Here I am talking to him. He is a bit shy.

This is me and Sherlock.

I hope you are having fun too.

love
from

Buster

ps. Yesterday a lady came from Alabama to talk to me.
She had seen my picture on the internet because I am famous. I am going to have a nap now.

* pps. Kit explained about dog days in the comments!

  1. You have many interesting furiends at the dog park, Buster... I like their names too, just like how I like yours, very befitting of their characters. Yes, you are a famous dog indeed.

  2. Hi Buster,

I used to have a dog like Arrow who was shy too. His name was Isaac and he was a most wonderful friend. One day Isaac fell and broke his leg and - now this part gets sad - stuff went wrong that the vet couldn't fix and so he died. But I visit you most days which is a cheery sort of thing to do and, one day, I'll get another dog.

Hope you have a nice week.

  4. Sherlock is short, like me, knows dog stuff and where to sniff, He looks to be very polite. You should be a social worker- you are so social, and talk to all the dogs. I think that you could get paid mucha bones for that!
    urf and snuggle,

  5. Buster I would like it if you would write something every day (but I know sometimes your mum might have too much to do to help you)! Whenever I am feeling sad, reading about you makes me cheer up. Thank you!

PS: I hope you are enjoying your new stick!

  6. Hi Buster. I think these are the "dog days" because of a famous dog who lived on a star. I do not know this dog's name but he made his home the brightest star in the night sky. He had friends nearby in other stars, and together they made their neighborhood into a dog sign so you could find them from far away. Some humans saw them and thought this famous dog's home must be very hot because it was so bright and because it was so easy to see in the hot summertime, so they called it Sirius...which in their way of talking meant "scorcher." And then those long ago humans started calling his shiny home the dog star and the hot summertime the "dog days."

  8. That dog park looks like a great place to hang out during the dog days of summer- but I bet you'll like it even better when there's a little nip in the air.

I don't know what I'm going to do when it gets too cold to swim in the pool. By then I'll have to wear my new jacket to the park, promise you won't laugh too hard. Your pal, Arrow

  11. Buster, I am so happy I have found you again. I had lost your link in a folder on my computer I didn't even know I had!! My Harry and Scarlett like to hear about your adventures in the park and see all the friends you have. We do not have a dog park where we live.....but we have a lovely big beach with no people to run on and lots of nice on leash walks. xx

Buster, your mum outdid herself with photos today! Wow!!! I think I could reach right through the screen and bump noses with you guys!
You and all your pals are very famous! I went to a dog park in Maryland last week and wouldn't get off my dad's lap. Everyone laughed at me. I bet you and your friends wouldn't do that.

  14. Buster -

That stick looks like a good find! Lots of interesting little pieces to chew on.

You seem to have a lot of friends at the park. It is so nice that you share them with us.

  18. Love seeing you with a stick. Flora used to chews a stick when she was younger... but now, she has 13 years old... so, her tooth are not so good and strong.

  20. The lady from Alabama (and now NYC because her mattress has arrived) is my Mama's best friend, and we all like to read your stories. I have had 2 brothers like Arrow; Cody (who is gone) and Eddie. I like to watch Eddie run. I do not usually join him unless he is running with my fish or his tiger.
    Love to you, too,
    Maggie
p.s. I think you are very handsome.
